What is this insulation board for?

The Wineo insulation board 5 mm serves two purposes: thermal insulation and impact sound reduction. The insulation board consists of a 5 mm thick wood fibre board, which provides good thermal insulation. At the same time, small unevenness of the floor up to a height of 3 mm is compensated by this insulation board.

When you move on the parquet or laminate floor, you automatically produce sounds, the so-called walking sound or room sound. Part of the room sound is transmitted to other rooms via the walls, the ceiling and the floor. This proportion is called impact sound. When parquet or laminate flooring is laid as a floating installation, an air cushion is created between the floor covering and the subfloor, which amplifies sound waves. For this reason, when installing laminate or parquet flooring in a floating installation, it is always necessary to provide for impact sound insulation.

This insulation board is suitable for installation under laminate or parquet flooring on a non-mineral subfloor. If it is to be laid on a mineral subfloor, for example a screed, a vapour barrier must be inserted between the subfloor and the insulation board. This vapour barrier ensures that no moisture from the substrate penetrates the insulation board. As the insulation board is made of wood fibres, it would go mouldy if it came into contact with moisture.

Due to its good thermal insulation properties, this insulation board is not suitable for use on a hot water carrying floor heating system.

is a natural, renewable resource that binds CO2. It's good for the climate. The wood used for the insulation boards comes from sustainable forestry, as documented by the FSC seal. At the end of its service life, this insulation board can either be recycled or disposed of with household waste.

How is this insulation board installed?

The insulation board is laid loosely, at a 45° angle to the laminate or parquet, so that the joints of the insulation boards do not coincide with those of the flooring elements. You must leave 2 mm space between each row of insulation boards, because the insulation boards expand under heavy loads. For the same reason, you should leave 10 mm space towards the walls.
