Vinyl flooring to click and glue
Vinyl is an extremely popular floor that is particularly appealing because of its versatile appearance. This type of floor consists of numerous designs and high quality features. Vinyl is not only robust and scratch-resistant but also easy to clean and insensitive to moisture.
Vinyl flooring to click & glue - the alternative.
The vinyl floor is the much improved successor to the PVC floor. Unlike its predecessor, the vinyl floor covering does not contain phthalates as plasticizers and it is also less flammable. Phthalates as plasticizers have been banned in the EU since 2015 because they emit gases that are harmful to health. Although vinyl floor coverings also contain plasticizers, these are harmless to health because they are made of soy, for example. The vinyl floor covering is sold under various names: Vinyl flooring, vinyl, vinyl laminate, design flooring, design covering. These terms all refer to a vinyl floor covering in tile or plank form. A distinction must be made between PVC flooring, which is offered in rolls.
The different types of vinyl flooring
This floor covering is offered as a full vinyl covering or as a floor covering built up from several heterogeneous layers. The latter is also called multi-layer or HDF vinyl.
Depending on the type of installation, a distinction is made between click vinyl, adhesive vinyl and self-adhesive vinyl flooring.
As the name suggests, full vinyl consists mainly of vinyl. A vinyl record, for example, is made dimensionally stable by glass fibres. A decorative paper is attached to the top of the paper and covered by a wear layer. This layer usually consists of the very hard polyurethane. Another characteristic of solid vinyl floors is the low installation height.
This construction height is the total thickness of the floor covering. It is usually 4 mm to 5 mm for solid vinyl. This low thickness is particularly useful for renovations. They usually mean that doors do not have to be sanded down to make the floor covering fit underneath. However, the advantage of the low installation height is bought at the expense of a disadvantage that should not be neglected: This floor covering cannot compensate for unevenness of the subfloor. They stand out on the floor covering and may even push through For this reason, the subfloor must be prepared prior to installation so that there are no uneven areas . This type of vinyl floor is also called solid vinyl.
The multi-layer or HDF vinyl is 10 mm thick, twice as thick as the solid vinyl. Its core piece is an HDF carrier board. HDF = High Density Fiberboard = highly compressed fiberboard. A vinyl layer is laminated onto it. It is supplemented by a decorative paper and a wear layer above it. Often an additional footfall sound insulation is integrated on the underside. Due to its strength, the HDF vinyl floor level out any unevenness in the subfloor. However, when it is laid, the doors usually have to be sanded down so that the floor covering fits underneath. If you want to install a multi-layer vinyl floor in damp rooms, make sure that it has an additional surface sealant. This prevents moisture from penetrating into the vinyl flooring and causing the backing plate to swell.
Rigid vinyl is a new variant. It is made of full vinyl enriched with stone or lime powder. This changes the thermoplastic elasticity of the material and gives it even more strength and stability. This is how the material is resistant to temperatures up to 60 °Cit becomes less sensitive to pressure loads and there are less scratches or abrasion damage. Like full vinyl, this is Rigid vinyl insensitive to moisture. This floor covering also often already has integrated impact sound insulation.
At the Vinyl-cork combination the plastic is applied to an HDF board made of cork. This combines the high thermal and impact sound insulation of cork with the robustness and easy maintenance of plastic. This is the optimal floor covering for many rooms in the private sector.
The history of vinyl floors
Due to the shortage of raw materials during the Second World War, the material was originally intended as a substitute for rubber. But it only became really popular after the war, as a component of records. Then more and more objects of daily life were made from it.
In the 60s of the last century it was discovered as a cheap alternative to ceramic tiles and parquet. Unfortunately, it turned out that this PVC emitted harmful vapours. The phthalates used as plasticizers at the time were to blame.
That is why this PVC flooring was hardly ever laid. But the technical development continued and there were new plasticizers developed. They are based, for example, on components of the Soya bean and are completely harmless to health.
Since the turn of the millennium, many well-known manufacturers of floor coverings have dedicated themselves to the further development of vinyl flooring. As a result, the product "vinyl floor covering" has not only been given many different names, it is also one of the most developed floor coverings today.
Thus, in addition to the Development of harmless plasticizers significantly improves the dimensional stability and durability of this floor covering This floor covering has nothing more to do with the old PVC. However, it was possible to maintain the low installation height. Therefore, the floor covering usually fits under doors without having to be sanded down. This also makes the transition to other rooms with a different floor covering easier. Such transitions are not only an optical problem. They can also become dangerous tripping hazards if the body heights are very different. The printing technology has also been further developed. It makes it possible today, to create authentic surface images. So you can Wood- or Stone Designs optically hardly differ from the original. In addition, some vinyl floor coverings have integrated moisture insulation and/or impact sound insulation. This can save you laying work, but is not always optimal in every case. You will find corresponding information in the product descriptions at ParkettKaiser.
Important properties of vinyl floors at a glance
- contains no phthalates as plasticizers
- pleasant running feeling
- many models are also suitable for installation in damp rooms
- UV-resistant, i.e, Sunlight does not lead in order that the Floor faded
- the soft, elastic surface is easy on the joints
- the material is pressure-resistant, i.e. there are hardly any scratches or dents caused by furniture
- warm to the feet
- hard-wearing
- easy-care
- little footfall and walking noise
- available in numerous designs and with many surface structures
- cheaper than parquet or stone floor
What is meant by footfall and walking noise?
Walking noise is the sound caused by the movement of people or animals, but also by the vibrations of machines, such as a washing machine. You will be heard in the room itself. Impact sound, on the other hand, refers to the proportion of sound transmitted through walls, ceilings, floors, etc. to other rooms.
A vinyl floor in wet rooms?
A Full vinyl- or Solid vinyl floor you can also without hesitation in Damp areas publish like a rigid vinyl floor covering. Since the material is insensitive to moisture, there are no problems.
At a HDF vinyl floor or a Multi-layer floor covering you have to pay attention to an additional surface sealing. These floor coverings consist of a material mix that is sensitive to moisture. Surface sealing is intended to prevent moisture from penetrating the floor covering
The vinyl flooring is therefore a wonderful alternative to the traditional tiled floor. This foot warm and elastic floor covering is more comfortable for many users than ceramic tiles
If you use the Tile look you can choose the floor covering with an appropriate design. Or you can choose Wood decor or for ... you have almost endless possibilities to design wet rooms according to your personal taste.
A Vinyl-cork combinationn is not suitable for damp areas. The cork would absorb moisture, swell and finally destroyed will be.
If a vinyl floor covering is laid on screed or over underfloor heating, a moisture barrier should be installed beforehand. When laying the floor on ceramic tiles, the moisture barrier can be omitted.
Can vinyl laminate be laid over underfloor heating?
Most vinyl floors are suitable for installation over underfloor heating. At Parkett Kaiser you will find a corresponding note in every product description. In the case of water-bearing underfloor heating systems, however, you should first install a moisture barrier.
Important when laying over Floor heating is the Thermal Conductivity. It indicates how well the material conducts heat. The smaller it is, the better the heat is dissipated through the material. Materialwhich is above a Floor heating should have a Thermal Conductivity have, the less than 0.15 m²K/W is. Only then is it guaranteed that the heat will get into the room. You will also find this resistance value in the product description. If they install a moisture barrier and/or impact sound insulation in addition to the floor covering, the added values of the respective Thermal resistances less than 0.15 m²K/W be.
Most manufacturers recommend gluing the floor covering of underfloor heating systems over the entire surface, because this provides better heat conduction.
What is a moisture barrier?
The moisture barrier is also called a vapour barrier. It consists of a thin PE film - usually 0.1 mm to 0.2 mm thick. This film prevents moisture from below from penetrating the floor covering and damaging it.
It is important when laying floors on screeds and above water-bearing underfloor heating systems. Screeds always contain moisture and moisture could escape from underfloor heating. Therefore, most manufacturers require such a vapour control layer in their warranty conditions. However, you must not install a moisture barrier if you are laying the floor covering on a wooden subfloor. Depending on the relative humidity in the environment, wood absorbs or releases moisture. If the wood were covered by a vapour barrier, this process would be prevented or made more difficult. In extreme cases, this could lead to the wood decomposing due to moisture. Even the best vinyl flooring could not compensate for this.
The vinyl floor - the inexpensive alternative
Parquet is certainly a great floor covering, but unfortunately it is also correspondingly expensive. Laminate would be cheaper, but is often not robust enough. Vinyl flooring is a good alternative with an excellent price-performance ratio. It is a little more expensive than laminate, but considerably cheaper than parquet.
This is the Production technique at present so maturethat the vinyl floor covering hardly looks Parquet or stone floor to distinguish is. With the appropriate surface treatments, the feel also comes closer and closer to the original. This floor covering is extremely durable Manufacturers give up to 25 years warranty. Therefore the purchase is worthwhile. It is also often a good idea to keep an eye out for remaining stock or special offers.
Robustness that convinces
The wear layer of very hard polyurethane gives the floor covering its great robustness Scratches are much less common than with other floor coverings. This wear layer is also resistant to pressure and the stresses caused by a wide range of activities, such as those occurring in entrance areas.
The thickness of this layer determines the permissible load. A wear layer of 0.1 mm to 0.3 mm is optimal for loads such as those typically encountered in residential areas. Floor coverings with a wear layer of 0.4 mm to 0.6 mm thickness are suitable for light to normal loads in commercial areas and heavy loads in residential areas. If the floor covering is to withstand a normal load in industrial areas or a heavy load in commercial areas, it should have a wear layer of 0.7 mm to 1.0 mm. Of course you can also lay such a floor covering in your private home. But it's more expensive. If you observe these basic conditions and treat the floor occasionally with appropriate care products, you will enjoy your vinyl flooring for a long time. It then remains fresh and presentable for a long time, even under greater stress.
Less footfall and footfall sound for a better quality of life
As beautiful as a parquet or laminate floor can be, the noise of people and animals walking is very unpleasant. Who does not know the annoying clatter of heels on a laminate floor?
Even the quieter sound of dog claws on laminate can get on your nerves over time. But you are not the only one who suffers from it. If this walking sound is transmitted as footfall sound into rooms below, it also annoys the neighbours. This can even lead to legal proceedings. A vinyl floor covering is much more advantageous. Because it is not as rigid as laminate or parquet flooring, it produces considerably less walking noiseLess walking noise also automatically means less impact sound and therefore fewer neighbourhood problems. If you then add the vinyl flooring Impact sound insulation combine, heavenly peace reigns.
No more cold feet with a vinyl floor
Ceramic tile flooring can look very classy and is also well suited for damp rooms, but it will regularly give you cold feet. With a vinyl floor covering you avoid this problem. It looks just as good when you choose an appropriate design, but is pleasantly warm to the feet. Laminate is not as cold as tiles, but it is not really warm either.
If you choose a wood design for your vinyl flooring, the pleasantly warm feeling on your feet is further enhanced by a warm look.
The infinite variety of designs
Vinyl floor coverings are available in numerous decors as well as in a variety of colours and sizes. Whether you are interested in classic wood- or Stone Decors inspire or rather modern Concrete- or metal look, with a vinyl floor covering there are few limits to your imagination. You can also combine the individual decors, colours and sizes as you wish. This opens up completely new possibilities again. For example, it can be used to accentuate certain floor areas and withdraw others. Or you can visually combine different floor areas. But it is not only the optics that offers a wide choice. Through equivalent structures in and on the surface the feel can also be changed. Your imagination and your will to design are only limited by the geometry of the room and the lighting conditions.
Dark floors look very elegant - especially in combination with light walls and furniture. But they are only suitable for rooms that are large enough and have a correspondingly large light incidence. Light-coloured floors, on the other hand, often make rooms appear larger than they are. But light-coloured floors combined with light-coloured walls and furniture quickly appear cold and impersonal.
What is the residual moisture?
In connection with floor coverings you will often come across the terms "residual moisture" and "ready for covering" A newly constructed screed always contains a lot of water This means for you: you can neither walk on a newly laid or poured screed nor process it further. It has to dry out first. How long it takes depends on the temperature and relative humidity. As a rule, for this desiccation you must allow up to eight weeks. This does not mean, however, that the screed is sufficiently dry after eight weeks in any case. Even after drying, the screed still contains waterIts share is the "residual moisture" . For vinyl flooring, it should not exceed 2 % for an unheated cement screedat a Calciaum sulphate screed she may even not more than 0,5 % only. If there is underfloor heating in the screed, the values fall to 1.8% for cement screed and 0.3% for calcium sulphate screed. Cement and calcium sulphate screeds are not the only possible screeds, but they are the most frequently used. The specifications of the residual moisture refer to Measurements with the CM method. Although there are other methods of measuring residual moisture, these are not recognised by courts in the event of a dispute.
Once the residual moisture of the screed has sunk so far that a floor covering can be laid, it is ready for laying. If the floor covering is laid on a screed that is not yet sufficiently dry, the floor covering will be damaged The manufacturer's warranty will then not apply.
The different ways of laying the vinyl
The vinyl flooring is available as self-supporting flooring, as click vinyl or as adhesive vinyl. Of course you can also get these variants from Parquetkaiser. However, not every installation method is optimal for all applications. Here you should inform yourself in advance to avoid annoying and possibly expensive mistakes.
The correct preparation is particularly important - regardless of the chosen installation method. At a New building must the Screed in any case the Availability reached have. In case of doubt, let us advise and support you. If you lay a floor covering on a substrate that is too damp, the vinyl floor covering will be destroyed after not too long. They then have no choice but to tear it out and lay a new floor. This is much more time-consuming and expensive than having the residual moisture measured by a specialist.
Every surface on which you want to lay a floor covering must be clean, dry, firm and even. Due to its low construction height, a vinyl floor covering can hardly compensate for unevenness of the floor
They often step through visibly. For this reason, a level surface without unevenness, crumbs, etc. is particularly important for this floor covering.
Any existing old textile or plastic floor coverings should be removed before laying the new floor. Old wooden floorboards, stone or ceramic tiles are suitable as a substrate if they are clean, dry and firm. If this subfloor contains cracks, you must repair them before laying the vinyl flooring.
Place the sealed packages with the vinyl flooring 24 hours, or better still 48 hours before laying, in the room where the flooring is to be laid later. This allows the material to acclimatize. A vinyl floor covering reacts to the ambient temperature. If it suddenly comes from a cold camp into a warm room, it expands. Although this expansion is only minimal and unproblematic with the appropriate "freedom of movement", it can cause damage during installation.
What else you should consider before laying
- You can lay the vinyl floor covering well on tiles. However, these must be planned.
- Solid wood planks, parquet, laminate or cork are problematic substrates for the installation of a vinyl floor covering. Wood and cork are materials that expand or contract depending on environmental conditions. This can damage the vinyl flooring in the long run.
- Old carpets should be removed in any case. They are not suitable as a substrate for laying a new floor covering. The carpet may become mouldy under the vinyl floor covering. Furthermore, the carpet gives way when walking. This can damage the connections with click vinyl.
- If the subfloor consists of a floor covering with HDF support, you can lay a floating vinyl floor covering on it. Depending on the thickness of the vinyl floor covering, you must first treat the joints of the subfloor with a levelling compound.
- If the subfloor consists of an old, bonded PVC flooring, it can be covered with the vinyl flooring without any problems. However, they should choose a floating installation to prevent reactions of the adhesive with the PVC. Of course, the old pavement must be solid and intact in order to serve as a base.
To install Click vinyl correct
Click-Vinyl owes its name to the connection of the individual elements by means of a click system. You probably know this principle from laminate. This click system has different names for the individual manufacturers, but always comes down to the same principle. The profile of two planks has coordinated, counter-rotating profiles - such as tongue and groove. They form a non-positive connection and lead to a jointless appearance. Click-Vinyl is offered as solid vinyl, with HDF carrier board, rigid vinyl and in combination with cork. However, these different construction types have no influence on the laying system.
With the help of the click system, you can install the vinyl flooring quickly and easily.
You will need these tools for vinyl installation:
- Hammer
- Bumping block
- a sufficient number of spacers
- Pencil
- Folding rule
- Angle
- Saw
- possibly cutter knife
Do you want to lay the vinyl floor on a screed or over underfloor heating? Then they must first lay out a moisture barrier. This is a PE film with a thickness of 0.1 mm to 0.2 mm. This film is sold on rolls. Roll out the film on the substrate. The sheets should overlap 30 cm in the joint area. On the walls you have to pull up this foil about 3 cm. This overhang can be hidden under a skirting board at the end of the floor installation. If necessary, fix the foil with adhesive tape. With a vinyl floor covering you usually do not need any additional impact sound insulation. If it does, it will be moved next. Impact sound insulation is offered on rolls or as panels. Roll or lay out the impact sound insulation butt to butt and join the individual sheets or panels with adhesive tape. A projection on the wall is not necessary.
Now you can start with the actual installation of the vinyl floor To the walls you hold a Expansion joint from 10 mm to 15 mm. Use the spacers for this purpose. Now start in one corner of the room. Lay the planks or tiles of the first row with the tongue side facing the wall. Click the elements at the head side from above into the previous element You will probably have to shorten the last element of the first row with a saw or cutter knife. Measure out the required length with the folding rule and mark it on the back of the element. Use the resulting remnant as the first element of the second row. In this way, you automatically receive the required offset of at least 40 cm. The elements of the second and further rows are clicked into the already lying tiles or planks on the long sides from above.
To install a self-laying Loose-Lay vinyl floor
For small areas or those that you want to dismantle again soon, such as exhibition stands, loose-lay vinyl is the ideal choice Loose-lay vinyl is also known as self-laying vinyl flooring. It has a high dead weight and therefore adheres to the substrate without having to be glued. This means that the ground is not affected, which is important for exhibition stands. You can also lay it extremely quickly. The planks or tiles are simply laid end to end. The result is a form-fitting, joint-free floor covering. Individual elements can be removed at any time, for example to clean them. You can assemble and dismantle a self-supporting floor covering several times without any loss of quality.
Glueing the vinyl floor
Gluing is the oldest, but also the most demanding way to lay a floor covering.
A full-surface bonding is possible for the following substrates:
- Wooden board substrate
- Dry screed
- Poured asphalt screed
- Calcium sulphate screed
- Calcium sulphate flowing screed
- Cement screed
- Cementitious flowing screed
The somewhat more difficult installation is extremely thin construction height compared toAdhesive vinyl often has a thickness of only 2 mm. This makes it ideal for renovation work Grinding of the doors is not necessary and transitions can be realized without tripping hazards. This advantage is particularly important for barrier-free apartments. With the low material thickness, there are hardly any pressure points caused by furniture, the floor is simply too thin for this. The full-surface bonding also offers advantages for humid rooms. If the surface is sealed accordingly, the vinyl floor covering is protected all around from moisture. This means that the floor covering will remain attractive for a long time in the kitchen or bathroom.
For the installation of vinyl flooring, the subfloor must be free from cracks, pressure and tensile strength, absorbent, dry, level, solid and clean. The relative humidity must not exceed 75 and the Soil temperature must be with be at least 15 °C. Please use only one Special gluewhich is offered by Parquet Kaiser, for example.
If the substrate is a calcium sulphate screed, you must sand or at least brush it down and then vacuum it.
First apply the adhesive for the first row of tiles or planks with a spatula. Align these elements so that the spring side is facing the wall. Here, too, you must maintain an expansion joint. Now press the plank or tile well into the adhesive bed. The adhesive can be applied open for 40 minutes. Even with this type of installation, you should maintain an offset from row to row of 40 cm to 50 cm. The individual elements of the floor covering are laid end to end. After installation, the vinyl flooring must dry out for 48 hours before you can walk on and load it.
To mount the Skirting boards
Skirting boards are accessories that you need for every floor covering. With them you design the transition from the floor to the wall. In addition to their purely visual function, these skirting boards also serve to cover the expansion joints and any protrusions of the vapour barrier. The offer of Skirting boards is similar in size to that of floor coverings. Most manufacturers offer one or more matching skirtings for their floor coverings. These strips are either screwed, nailed, glued or fixed with a special clip. Not all types of fastening are possible for every strip. Inform yourself with us!
The installation of the skirtings is usually the last step after the vinyl flooring has been laid and the walls painted or wallpapered. Before buying the skirting boards, measure the perimeter of the room. You determine the circumference by adding the lengths of all sides. Doors and other passages are left out Calculate 3 % to 5 % wasteand more in very confined spaces. It is possible that internal corners are also offered for the skirting boards they use. This saves you mitre cuts at the corners. Ideally mount Install the skirting boards at a room temperature between 18 °C and 22 °C.
Nailing is a simple and quick way to install the skirting boards. The fastest way to do this is with a nail gun. If two strips meet at a corner, they are each cut at an angle so that they fit together neatly. You must measure the respective angle beforehand, preferably with a bevel. If a wall is longer than the skirtings, you can cut the two meeting skirtings at a 45° angle to create an invisible transition. Alternatively, you can also simply place the strips together and fasten them. Then the transition is visible as a thin line. To fix the battens, place a nail approximately every 20 centimetres. At transitions, they place one nail each on the right and left at a small distance. Joints may form at the transition between skirting board and wall. These can be sealed with acrylic to achieve a more attractive result.
If you want to fix the skirting boards with clips, you must first cut the skirting boards to size to know exactly where the corners and transitions are. They then start at one end of the wall. There you place the first clip about 10 cm from the end of the inguinal region. Do the same at the end of the wall with the last clip. Place another clip between these two every 30 cm. To mark the drill holes, hold the clip against the wall and mark the drilling location with a pencil. Alternatively some clips can be glued. After you have mounted the clips, place the skirting boards on them and let them click into place audibly. The advantage of this installation method is that you can remove the skirting boards at any time without any problems and replace them later. This is very practical for renovations.
If the skirting boards are to be gluedplease use a special assembly adhesive. The cut-to-size skirting boards are glued on the back, placed on the wall and held for a moment. Use the glue sparingly so that it does not swell out at the top. If any glue should ooze out, wipe it off immediately. You will find information on the drying time of the adhesive on the adhesive package.
How you Transition profiles assemble
Transition profiles is required for the transition from one room to another, regardless of whether you have installed vinyl flooring or other flooring in both rooms. If the two floors have the same height, use transition profiles. If the heights of the floors are different, you will need compensating profiles. Both profiles can either be screwed or glued. However, sometimes, for example with underfloor heating, screwing is not possible. The profiles consist of two parts: the bottom rail and the top rail. In addition, there may also be screws and dowels, which are normally included with the profiles when they are purchased. Before you lay the vinyl flooring, you must install the bottom rail. As a rule, the profile runs below the door leaf when the door is closed. Select this item. Now see if the profile needs to be shortened in length. If necessary, shorten the upper and lower rail with a hacksaw.
When the profile is screwed:
Place the bottom rail at the marked position. Use a pencil to transfer the pre-drilled holes of the bottom rail to the floor. Now drill holes in the substrate at the marked points to match the size of the screws. Then insert the dowels and screw the bottom rail tight.
When the profile is glued:
Use a suitable mounting adhesive. Distribute this on the back of the bottom rail. Then press the bottom rail firmly along the marking. The required drying time of the adhesive should be indicated on the package.
Either way:
After you have fixed the bottom rails, you can start laying the vinyl flooring. When you have finished laying the floor, click the top rail into the bottom rail or screw it tight (depending on the version).
What do the service classes mean?
The service classes, abbreviated NK, indicate the type of load for which a floor covering is designed. They consist of two digits. The first digit indicates whether the flooring is intended for private homes = 2, commercial enterprises = 3 or industrial enterprises = 4. The second digit indicates the possible strength of the load. The greater the number, the greater the burden.
1 = light load, 2 = normal load, 3 = heavy load.
The thicker the wear layer of a floor covering is, the greater the loads it can be subjected to.
For the Living area is usually the Class 23 or 32 recommended. Vinyl floor coverings for the Living area have a wear layer whose Thickness is between 0,2 mm and 0,3 mm. Floor coverings with service class 21 are suitable for bedrooms, for example, but are not intended for the entrance area. There the frequency of use is too high. Floor coverings with service class 23 are intended for this area and for children's rooms. Service class 22 would be ideal for a living room, for example. You can easily lay a floor covering that is designed for a greater intensity of use. This is only usually much more expensive. The principle should therefore apply here: "as much as necessary, as little as possible". However, under no circumstances should you buy a floor covering with a "too small" service class. Then signs of wear and tear could appear after a short time. This is of course not what you rightly expect from a vinyl floor covering. The service class is part of the product information which should always be indicated. In case of doubt, it is better to ask than to lay the "wrong" floor covering.
In shops, offices and medical practices, the burden of daily use is much higher than in private homes. This is where you should install vinyl flooring whose service class begins with 3. They have a wear layer of 0.3 mm to 0.5 mm thickness.
In the industrial sector, the floor covering must also be able to withstand the placement of heavy machinery or the storage of heavy materials. Vinyl floor coverings whose first digit of the service class is a 4 are intended for this application. Their wear layer is up to 1 mm thick.
Where is the vinyl floor used?
The vinyl floor covering was originally used in industrial and commercial premises. There, the characteristics of robustness and easy maintenance were particularly convincing. It was the ideal floor covering for practices, business premises and offices. Even industrial companies appreciate an appropriate vinyl floor covering. Thanks to constant development, vinyl flooring is now also interesting for private individuals again. Its disadvantages, such as harmful plasticizers, have now been eliminated - sbut the floor covering has retained one advantage. Especially for families with children and/or pets the vinyl flooring is very interesting because of its insensitivity and good cleaning possibilities. What other floor covering can tolerate Driving the scooter or spilling lemonade? Vinyl flooring is also ideal for damp rooms. It is insensitive to moisture, warm to the feet and offers a wide range of designs. Underfloor heating systems are becoming increasingly popular - especially in passive houses. Most vinyl floor coverings can also be laid over underfloor heating without any concerns. Vinyl flooring is ideal for the entrance area of the apartment or house. No other floor covering can be cleaned as well.
Vinyl is not harmful to health
Vinyl flooring still has the bad reputation inherited from PVC with many people. Today, phthalates are no longer found in vinyl floor coverings. They have long been banned as plasticizers in the EU and have been replaced by soybean-based productsTherefore, there are no longer any health-damaging vapours from these floor coverings. In principle, vinyl flooring must contain plasticizers, otherwise it would be brittle and fragile. But that is not a problem either Not all plasticisers are harmful to health. The products sold within the EU are subject to strict controls on their ingredients. So you don't have to worry. Most vinyl floor coverings are also antibacterial. This makes them even more suitable for allergy sufferers.
A vinyl floor can also be environmentally friendly
Most manufacturers of floor coverings are aware of their responsibility towards nature. You also take this into account when producing the floor coverings. The careful and sustainable extraction of raw materials is one such point. Many manufacturers are also devoting more and more attention to the recycling and recovery of products. What exactly which manufacturer does in terms of the environment can be seen in the company presentations. As companies know that customers are increasingly concerned about environmental friendliness, their environmental awareness has changed for the better. At the same time, competition among the companies ensures that quality does not suffer as a result of environmental protection measures. If you consider that even today a vinyl floor covering is not 100% recyclable, you can buy it with a clear conscience.
What advantages does a vinyl floor have over laminate or parquet?
- Vinyl flooring requires less maintenance than parquet. It does not need to be oiled and waxed regularly.
- In contrast to laminate or parquet flooring, it can be wiped wet.
- The low installation height of the vinyl floor covering is particularly noticeable in renovations.
- The surface of the Vinyl flooring is less sensitive to scratches and abrasion damage than the surface of laminate and parquet flooring.
- Vinyl flooring is resistant to moisture, while laminate and parquet swell quickly.
- This floor covering produces considerably less walking and impact sound than laminate and parquet.
- The vinyl floor covering is suitable for damp rooms.
- Vinyl is light resistant. In contrast to laminate and parquet flooring, its colour does not change over time due to the incidence of light.
- Vinyl flooring is slightly more expensive than laminate, but much cheaper than parquet.
How to maintain the vinyl floor properly
The vinyl is extremely easy to clean and robust. That means for you: Keeping it clean is no problem and great care is not necessary. Usually they have to Only sweep vinyl floor with a dry mop or hairbrush. Alternatively, you can suck it out. In case of larger dirt or if something is spilt, wipe the floor damp, if necessary with a standard floor cleaner. You can also order a Special cleaner for design floors. This cleaner not only removes dirt, but also maintains the floor in the same operation. In addition to this product for ongoing cleaning, Parquetkaiser also offers products for possible basic cleaning and for occasional refreshing of the design.
