How is this parquet constructed?The top layer of American walnut wood sits on the spruce-fir middle layer. As the middle layer runs across the grain direction of the top layer, it can largely compensate for the "working" of the wood. This "working" results from the absorption or release of moisture by the wood. It expands or contracts in the process. With solid wood parquet this can easily lead to distortion of the floor or to cracks. On the underside of the middle layer, a backing veneer of softwood ensures high dimensional stability. The swelling protection consists of a lamella and a surrounding top layer impregnation.
