HARO Silent Energy DS Comfort Line insulation underlayThe HARO Silent Energy DS Comfort-Line insulation underlay is an acoustic insulation mat with integrated vapour barrier. The flexible web based on thermoplastic polymers is filled with natural rock flour. The vapour barrier is laminated on one side in the form of a metal-coated film. This low-emission insulation underlay is free of bitumen and PVC. It can be recycled at the end of its useful life. Why do you need this insulating underlay?Floating floor coverings, together with the subfloor and the air in between, form a resonance chamber for acoustic vibrations. This amplifies the impact sound. Impact sound is sound that occurs in a room but is transmitted to other rooms via floors, ceilings and walls. Floating floor coverings are therefore very noisy in themselves and it is essential to use an acoustic insulation underlay, often simply called impact sound insulation. Whether you also need a vapour barrier depends on the type of subfloor on which you want to lay the floor covering and the footfall sound insulation. What is the purpose of a vapour barrier?A more or less small amount of moisture always escapes from mineral substrates such as screeds. Without a vapour barrier, this moisture would get into the insulating underlay. This would then begin to get mouldy over time. The vapour barrier, consisting of a metal-coated plastic film, reliably prevents this. Where is this insulation underlay used?
How is the insulation underlay laid? Before you start laying the insulation underlay, please ensure that the substrate is firm, dry, level and clean. For an unheated cement screed, the residual moisture must not exceed 2 CM %. If the cement screed is heated, the value drops to 1.8 CM %. For a calcium sulphate screed, the corresponding values are 0.5 CM % unheated and 0.3 CM % heated. The room temperature should be around 18 °C and the floor temperature between 15 °C and 25 °C. Ideally, the relative humidity in the room is less than 65%. Roll out the insulation underlay with the aluminium side facing upwards. It can be cut easily and dust-free with a laying knife. Lay out the insulation underlay butt to butt and glue the joints with aluminium adhesive tape. Properties of the HARO Silent Energy DS Comfort-Line insulation underlay at a glance
